Salü, Demand-Responsive Transport service in Wil

In March, the Swiss operator BUS Ostschweiz AG launched SALÜ, an on-demand service for the city of Wil. A web app as well as IOS and Android apps are available to users for information and booking the service. Padam Mobility and Hacon are responsible for the technical realisation of the solutions.

The new service serves the residents of Wil, Wilen, Bronschhofen and Rossrüti in the evenings from around 8 pm as a flexible shuttle to and from the station and is oriented to the train timetable. During the week, the service can be used until 11:30 pm, on Friday and at weekends until 0:30 am. Journeys on Sunday are currently not offered. Users who want to start their journey directly must expect a waiting time of about 5 to 15 minutes. However, it is also possible to book in advance (max. 7 days).

Users can search, book and pay directly for their chosen ride in the SALÜ app. Currently, more than 100 virtual stops are available in the service area. As with the previously used Wiler Abendtaxi, a public transport ticket is required, on which a surcharge of CHF 3 is charged. Tickets can be purchased before the journey by credit card or at the ticket machine at the Wiler train station. It is also possible to pay the fare surcharge directly in the vehicle using Twint.

SALÜ significantly increases the attractiveness of public transport in the city of Wil. We combine comfort and sustainability with the offer – the app calculates which passengers can board when and where and identifies the fastest connections.
