Low density areas

tadex, Demand-Responsive Transport service in estremadura

Faced with many challenges, the Autonomous Community of Extremadura (Junta de Estremadura) has committed itself to developing several projects to improve the mobility of its citizens, especially in the rural part of its territory.

Faced with the geographical and demographic complexity of its large rural areas and low population density, the autonomous community decided to experiment DRT in the rural outskirts of the cities of Badajoz and Caceres. For this purpose, it has entrusted Padam Mobility’s solutions which will be deployed there for a period of 8 months under the TADEX brand. The service will be deployed in the first days of October 2021 in the rural areas of the cities of Badajoz and Caceres. It will be in operations from Monday to Friday:

• In Badajoz (operator: Damas Extremadura), in the zones of: Esparragosa de Lares-Badajoz, Villanueva de la Serena-Mérida, Cáceres-Cabeza del buey, Vivares-Villanueva de la Serena, Cabeza del Buey-Don Benito Sancti Espíritu-Cáceres.

• In Cáceres (operator: Solís Autocares), in the zones of Albalá-Trujillo and Ibahernando-Torremocha.

The experimentation is made of 4 stages:

1. Service design and specification validation (1 month)

2. Service deployment and staff training

(2 months)

3. Service launch (1 month)

4. Service implementation and maintenance

(8 months)
