How Hertfordshire County Council is using the Rural Mobility Fund to improve access to public transport
The villages and hamlets around Buntingford had hardly any access to public transport, which made access to jobs, social facilities or important transport hubs difficult.
Demand responsive transport manages to introduce and maintain public transport services in places where it would not be profitable, especially from an economic point of view, to establish a fixed route service.
In this case study we show how the DRT service “HertsLynx” is used to connect these less frequented areas with important nodes and to maintain public transport in the more rural areas.
